Hard Surfaces

We work hard to select quality wood and metal products that fit all lifestyles. Keep your hard surface furniture looking its best with a few tips from the pros.

Marble

How should I clean marble surfaces on a regular basis?

Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners or household cleaning products, as they may damage the finish.

Is the marble surface protected or sealed?

The marble top is untreated and naturally porous, meaning it can absorb liquids and may stain — especially from darker substances.

What should I do if something spills on marble?

Wipe up spills immediately to help prevent staining.

How can I protect my marble surface from damage?

Use coasters, felt tabs, and trivets to help prevent scratches and surface wear.

Wood

How do I care for wood surfaces on a daily basis?

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth and avoid chemical agents or household cleaning products that may damage the finish.

Do wood furnishings require any maintenance over time?

Yes. With normal use, hardware components may loosen. Periodically inspect and tighten all fittings as needed.

How can I protect wood surfaces from scratches?

Use coasters, felt tabs, and trivets to minimize wear, prevent scratching, and reduce fingerprints on furniture.

Upholstery & Leather

The best fabric and leather options deserve the best possible care. Browse our helpful guide to keeping your upholstery looking beautiful for years to come.

Upholstery Care

How often should I clean or maintain my upholstered furniture?

Regular vacuuming is recommended because dust and dirt cause fabric to wear faster.

How do I keep my cushions looking their best?

Flip, rotate, and fluff removable cushions regularly to ensure even wear and increase longevity.

Can sunlight damage my upholstery?

Yes. Direct sunlight can cause fabric fading. Use drapes, blinds, or window coverings to reduce prolonged exposure.

What is pilling and should I be concerned?

Pilling can occur from normal daily wear and is not a fabric fault. Pills can be removed with a pilling tool.

What should I do if I find a loose thread?

Do not pull loose threads. Instead, trim them carefully with scissors.

Can clothing or accessories damage my furniture?

Yes. Jewellery, zippers, and buckles may snag the fabric, so use caution when sitting down. It is also worth using a cover or throw if you have pets, to help protect your upholstery from damage.

Should I have my upholstery professionally cleaned?

Annual professional upholstery cleaning is recommended to keep your furniture looking its best.

Spot Cleaning Upholstery

Can I machine-wash or dry-clean my cushion casings?

No. Machine washing or dry cleaning may damage the fabric, backing, or stitching.

What should I do if I spill something?

Blot the spill immediately with a clean, dry white cloth, working from the outer edge toward the center.

How do I apply a spot cleaner properly?

Apply a small amount of cleaner and gently rub with your fingertips.
Avoid oversaturating the fabric, as this can damage the backing or cushions.
Continue sparingly applying cleaner and blotting until no more stain transfers to the cloth.
This is the recommended method to spot clean upholstery.
If a water rinse is recommended, use distilled water — tap water may cause mineral stains.

What if a stain does not come out?

If the stain cannot be removed with basic spot cleaning, professional cleaning is recommended.

How do I dry the cleaned area?

Use a hair dryer on the lowest heat setting to dry the fabric evenly and prevent moisture rings.

Fabric Cleaning Codes

What are upholstery cleaning codes?

Professional cleaners use these codes to determine the right cleaning method. If you have Nuvella performance fabric, ask your retailer for its specific cleaning code.

What does each code mean?

S = Solvent cleaners only
W = Water-based cleaners
SW = Solvent or water-based cleaners
You can request your fabric's cleaning code from your furniture retailer.
